Okay, so I am the latest EVER to this particular party, I know, but WHO WANTS TO TALK WITH ME ABOUT THE MIDDLEMAN? Acceptable topics of discussion include but are not limited to: shenanigans; how much more kissing there should be; the utter dearth of good MM fic; the way they TOTALLY MADE A GLORYHOLE JOKE; IDA; how much I love Wendy Watson's face; how much I love Wendy Watson's everything; how much I love Lacey; how much I love the Middleman himself; how much I love every other aspect of this show; \o ART CRAWL!; and TROUT.

Also you should feel free to tell me what to write, because if the fic is not out there I WILL JUST HAVE TO RESOLVE THAT PROBLEM MYSELF. *is resolved*

heeeeee! thus far I am only 7 episodes in, so some of those things are going over my head, but I AGREE WITH YOU ON MOST COUNTS.

And I want to write that! I just, you know. Have to figure out how it works! because god forbid I write porn without several thousand words of exposition beforehand. *facepalm* but possibly that is part of the bodyswap story? *hands*

I SUPPORT YOUR DECISION TO WRITE FIC. :D Especially of the Wendy/Middleman. Wait no, Lacey/Middleman. No, Wendy/Middleman/Lacy. Okay, any and all of the above and also Ida fic and gen fic and fic about anything at all really. I would be so easy for Middleman fic.

YES I AGREE WITH THIS. I am...probably going to watch episode 8 sometime tonight? So we are at about the same place (except my copy of episode 3 was borked, so I haven't actually seen that one. thank god for shows without much of an overall plot arc!)

BUT YES. There should be fic! with KISSING and SNUGGLING and SEX and BANTER and stuff. And I will write it! ...just as soon as I figure out what I want to write first.

ALSO I cannot help but notice that you left Wendy/Lacey off that list. CLEARLY THIS IS AN OVERSIGHT. *sternface*

Hmmm, ino I have a link for a good episode three somewhere. Also this means I can mention how HOT Lacey looked in her dress in the episode with the tuba. Wendy slumps back in her chair, kicks it up on the back two legs. "Where do you want to start? Flying gerbils are abducting retirees up and down the eastern seabord. My confrontational spoken word performance artist best friend has a crush on my boss that is about three half-dates away from going nuclear. My bizarrely asexual boss seems, in his own bizarrely asexual way, to reciprocate, but neither of them is ever going to act on it. My ex-boyfriend is the once and future douchebag, my apartment is semi-legal and a complete wreck, and my sex life—"

"I'm sorry," Ida says, thumping a second stack of papers down next to the first and glaring at Wendy. "Did you mistake me for somebody who gives a rat's patoot?"

She goes on to list all of the many and varied ways in which she doesn't care about Wendy's problems, but Wendy's not listening. She doesn't even mind when Ida gets the Interrodroid to sneak up behind her and thump her chair down flat, doesn't even mind Ida's triumphant "Four on the floor, dope fiend!"

Her job is to solve exotic problems, after all. And when you put it all together like that, well.

Looks like Wendy Watson, Middle Associate, has a job all her own.

It's not like Lacey's stupid or something. Sure, she's blonde, and objectively pretty adorable, and into performance art and yoga and other things that don't usually go along with superior intellect, but she's not an idiot.

Wendy is totally fucking her boss.

Or, okay, fine: Wendy is probably not actually fucking her boss, because Pillow Lips is all honorable and Wendy is—that thing with the feather boa and the gallon of red paint aside—pretty repressed when it comes to actually hitting on dudes she likes.

(Dudes she doesn't really like, sure. As evidence, Lacey Thornton would like to present Ben [name?], also known as Exhibit A.)

So Wendy is probably not fucking her boss, because they're both too weird about each other to actually get naked and nasty together—but she wants to.

Lacey knows this because she knows everything there is to know about Wendy Watson. In particular, she knows what Wendy's like when she likes somebody.

When Wendy likes somebody—or, no. When Wendy doesn't like somebody, she's pretty low-key about it. She'll make the occasional snappy remark (and of course it'll be hilarious, because it's Dub-Dub), but mostly she's content to sit and look disdainfully upon lesser beings.

And maybe sneak into their apartment and replace their ridiculous conditioner with reclaimed cooking oil, but, well. Some things are necessary.

(Herself, Lacey believes in letting your emotions out, especially the negative ones. If she doesn't like somebody, she lets them know, no ifs, ands, buts, or other conjunctions about it. Same if she likes somebody—she lets it all go, pedal to the medal.

Sometimes this can be problematic—a certain evening on a cruise ship comes to mind—but on the whole, Lacey's okay with her strategy.)

But when Wendy likes somebody, she's on fire. She gets snippy, snappy, even downright mean, and she does it all with a grin on her face and a tilt to her eyebrows that makes you not mind at all.

And after the third time Sexy Bossman drops Wendy off after work, then hangs around for half an hour while she teases him about his hair, his clothes, his face, and his relationship with somebody called Ida—well.

It's clear that Wendy likes him, but that was clear from the first time. Three times, though—

—three times means that Sexy Bossman likes her back.

Here it is! I liked Wendy's too but I kind of wished they'd put her in a different color. I think I remember thinking red would have been amazing on her.

(Also, in something that might be amusing to you, when Imp and Lea and I were watching someone said something about how hilarious it would be if Fraser met the Middleman. Or possibly if they were long lost brothers. I don't remember exactly but the thought still leaves me tickled.)

BASICALLY I am really intrigued by the whole dynamic where the middleman ACTS like he's a million years older than Wendy, when realistically he can't be more than ten years older, max, from what we know (although JUST SO WE ARE CLEAR, ann arbor high ditched that name in the 50s and has been Pioneer High, home of the pioneer pioneers! since long before the middleman was a twinkle in his daddy's eye.
